2016 Best Nine + New Year Resolution

Jan 5, 2017

Just the proper first post in 2017!
But first, let's look back to 2016 and count all the blessings. God, thank you for yet another year worth living!

1. The travels, that highlight my year no matter how much I thought about it. When I travel, I realize how tiny of an atom we all are. Like, thinking how something so strange is a reality of someone somewhere, and likewise. It feels amazing, inbetween every turns of curiosity and self discovery of something new. I hope it won't be long until I can finish the storytell of those.2. Life is tough darling, but so are you. This year has been full of ups and downs for me again, literally. There are a few drawbacks, but I blissfully survived, undamaged. Well it's a tricky thing to say undamaged because we don't get through things without changing, but I'd prefer the term transformed than damaged. Because it sounds cooler of course, like a transformer, though the movie sucks. Nevertheless, your surroundings can be so intoxicated, yes, but your reaction is all yours to decide. Always, always strive to be happy.

3. Finally catching up in blogging again! It's something worth the celebrate, I'm certainly sure. The number of my posts in 2016 is probably more than every other years summed, and isn't that amaaaaazing. Anyway no, it's not my camera though I certainly wish it was!

4. Bestfriending people I've never thought I would. This is also the year that my awestrucking awkwardness has gone to the very high point yet I managed to trap some new people inside my tiny circle. Funny that we are friends since a long time ago but only getting close now. Well having people like you around is something I constantly be thankful about, thank you for all the emotional supports throughout the year!

5. Secret Cinema Club! If you are not friend with me on LINE, you are probably missing the fact that I'm spamming the timeline with thoughtful movie reviews every now and then. It starts as a place to share specifically about movies within us friends by me, Stephanie, and Jesica, but I'm so happy it grows bit by bit onto nice people that encourage me a lot in writing. Anyway, I just have to promote my movie place here ;))

In this chance, I'd like to also be thankful for the sixth season of Game of Thrones, which is amazing and deserved the tenth place in this list if there's any, and all the movies, new shows, plus books that kept me entertained throughout the year. I seriously wouldn't make it without the amazing people behind those. And here is Jon Targaryen, if you know what I mean. Oops, SPOILER ALERT.

6. Good businesses, bad ones, and lesson learned. Especially the bad ones. Those are bitter, but experiences are the best teacher, so I have to say that I don't regret a thing! (Crying and counting all the lost pennies.)

7. Mirum. This year, I do what I always think of doing: interning in the Creative Division of the biggest digital advertising agency here in Indonesia. It is my first time living away from home, and I can't say that I didn't struggle a lot. But the works itself are something that I love; dynamic and full of creative minds. It didn't help to be socially awkward though, but that's another story to tell! Interning in Mirum still taught me a lot of things regardless.

8. Last year of being a student... not. I'm only expected to graduate by the mid 2017 really, but the farewell vibes are already here because a lot are already leaving. It is sad, but the kind of happy sad because honestly I'm tired of classes... no, I'm kidding it is sad to be apart from these people I spent almost everyday for the last four years, especially towards the end. Anyway, this is a photo of us looking to the brighter future ahead in that one memorable night.

9. Amazing relationships, which would be the core gift in my life. If there's one thing I'm so blessed in my life, it's them. Nothing is dramatic or whatsoever, I can say that we would make a boring movie adaptation. Well boring yes, but heartfelt. You guys know who you are.

Well that is that! I have too much to write but I have to settle with nine... for now. I'd like to have my new year vision short and clean: Some people choose to see the ugliness in this world. The disarray. I choose to see the beauty. Yes, taken right from my to date favorite television series Westworld (So you are a movie lover, huh?).

Anyhow, Happy New Year to you guys wherever you are! I wish you a festive one celebrated with people you cherished the most! :)
x, Michelle
