(REVIEW) Gone Girl / What Have We Done to Each Other? (2014)

Jan 19, 2015

I only finished this movie and I was like, having a deep thought about my life for some long minutes in front of my laptop. Seriously.

For awhile Gone Girl felt like Hugh Jackman's Prisoners. A psychological crime thriller movie I really hate.
I hate being scared to death walking in my own house, not even by ghost but by an imaginary psychopats aiming to skin me alive. I still having a ghostbump remembering the old woman in Prisoners smiling in the back of Jackman when she is caught by hand. Oh I hate old-woman-psycho, old-woman-ghost, old-woman-witch, and whatsoever; they are worst.

Gone Girl has no old-woman, fortunately. It is not as tense as Prisoners (good news). When Prisoners is more thriller than anything, Gone Girl is somewhat more "crime drama". Of course, with a touch of insanity and some... blood. Many blood, at one point or another.

Though Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike) is the main bad girl, I couldn't help admiring her a bit. She is this intelligent, beautiful, elegant woman who's been living under the shade of fictional character of a book titled 'Amazing Amy' written by her parents. Amazing Amy is always one step ahead of me, she said. And she is always jealous of her, which I think lead to her psychological problem.

Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) is handsome, don't get me wrong; but he is completely asshole. He is an ordinary handsome asshole who's messing up with the wrong girl. Guys, you are really want to think twice before messing up with your girlfriend after watching this, ha!
I don't want to spoil more, but moral of the story is: creature called women can really do "things" once they've had enough; you don't want to piss them off.

You see, Amy and Nick fell in love like every another cool couple at first. Things didn't work out exactly like what they wanted; they ran out of money, Nick cheated, Amy has troubled personality.

When Amy is insane enough to frame Nick for murdering her, maybe Nick did treat her wrong. He is bored of his wife and turns cold, he cheats (with his student), he is emotionally unstable, and he does everything above with Amy's money. Duh. Amy, on the other hand, is not the type of girl to be treated like that. She has her pride, a very high of it. What Nick did is lowering her pride down until the level she can no longer resists. Leaving will only make him happy, so maybe framing sounds better. From here, she takes her revenge to way another level than we can imagine ourselves.

Rosamund Pike did a very good job potraying Amy Dunne. I think I've found myself another girl crush. Her acting is amazing; I really did fall for Amy's troubled personality. Her smart revenge, however, reminding me of Emily Thorne's, not to mention that Emily VanCamp looks alike Rosamund Pike at some point to me. Coincidence?

In the end, I just wanna recommend this movie for anyone who got time. I really love it--it is clearly on my 2014s made top five. Go for it, and enjoy your reflection of life afterwards.

What have you done to me?
What have we done to each other?

What,
Michelle

(REVIEW) The Walking Dead S04 / Quick Glance (2013-2014)

Jan 4, 2015

After a hard struggle to finish earliest episodes of The Walking Dead season four, I made it! Cheers, I deserve some recognation.

I know we're already at the half finale of season five, and I am late at so many levels. Sorry. I have a hard time because the earliest episodes to me are boring and slow. It gets better, though yes two or three episodes of The Governor made me struggle ever more. I must said this is the worst season of The Walking Dead, yet. I don't know about season five, but people said it is better.

I remember TWD as my favorite television series ever, before I started Game of Thrones. People said season three is already lame, but I enjoyed it neverthelessly. I don't think it's lame.

Season four, on the other hand, is the flop of the series so far. The writer decided to delay all the main events too much with minor things I don't find really entertaining. Though I love how they go deeper with some of the characters' past in the second half. Yes, I love to watch the bond between Daryl and Beth. (Thanks to major spoilers everywhere on the internet, I know I shouldn't be too happy.) I love Herschel just like you do but I think it's about time for TWD to kill a major character again. TWD goes too smooth for everyone; like why it's always the unknown characters got killed in this apocalypse world full of asshole like The Governor? I recognize only Herschel' death a major in TWD season four. We all want The Governor to die, so it doesn't count. I love some characters a lot and hate seeing them die, but sometimes it necessary to keep the show real. But maybe it's a Game of Thrones syndrome.

Well now I am off to the season five. Let's hope I don't regret what I'm saying with deaths here!

Cheers,
Michelle
